Okay, yesterday my school had this assembly. You know, for 9/11? Yeah, this motivational speaker came to my school. He was hilarious, like he did all these awesome voices, kinda like Robin Williams. And he's apparently very professional. Well, as funny as he was, he hit some very serious topics. Mostly, about bullying, and violence, and being disrespectful. He said things like just because we are in a nice area doesn't mean there isn't bad stuff going on. He told us true stories about kids who were so picked on and tortured by bullies at school they ended up doing awful things. It was all very sad. And usually after assemblies everyone is always like to their friends "Omigawsh, that assembly was SO boring and stupid" but this one actually hit home for people. How mean to each other we really are at school, and how its not OK. A lot of people were affected by it. Several were crying (call me heartless, but I'm glad I wasn't one of them). I hope the people at my school who actually do bad things LISTENED to that. But the sad thing is, the people who
really need to here these things are the ones that don't listen to them.
Yesterday and today, I was feeling kinda depressed about what he said. I'm glad he said it, and it was all true I know, but it really is the truth that hurts the most sometimes. So yeah, I was really sad about what he said, but it's also kind of a relief that he said it. Maybe all the other knuckleheads in middle school will realize how bad things are getting with respecting each other and all that. I'm glad he said it for all to here and understand.
So, hope you all can get something out of this. One last thing he said that is so true is this: "Sticks and stones break my bones, but words can break my heart." Remember people, watch what you say to one another. Words can hurt if we're not careful.

AMEN!! Thanks Emma for posting that! Ur AWESOMELY AWESOME!! That's a really good thing to remember "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will break my heart" and go prof. iglesias for getting that message across!!
yeah totally!
we had a discussion similar, mostly about racims and stuff. one of my friends is half arab and after 9/11, ppl that used to be his friends called him stuff like 'terrorist'. he was 9 years old.
we talked quite alot about it, the whole class period. lots of people said what they needed to, and no one came away offended, or anything. it was an experiance.
my theory is this.
we all come from adam( of, if you don't believe in that, monkeys) that means we are all, one big family. sibling fights are normal, but this, whats been happening in the past 200 years, is rediculous.
like you said, words huet. but even more, to me, is the looks people send, the way the leave or turn up thier noses because of who someone is.
"sticks and stones may break my bones, aimed with angry art. words can sting like anything, but silence breaks the heart."
i wrote a poem about it, the race thing, if you want, i'll send it to you.
God Bless the World. No exceptions

Great post Emma! Keep up your fantastic writing.
The longer I live the more goodness I see and more hope I have that things will work out. At the same time, I'm also realizing that people who are different from each other historically have always fought. It's the darndest thing. Seems that living in peace with those of different religions, ethnicities, political ideas, etc, is really unique.
Anyway, I've talked about James chapter 3 with some of my high school classes. It's a great chapter about how important what we say to each other is.
YES! IT IS TOO LATE FOR THAT DISCUSSION!! BLOG!!!!!!!
